STRATIS IoT CEO Felicite Moorman Awarded Rad Girls’ Technologist of the Year
PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-May 6th, 2019- STRATIS IoT CoFounderand CEO Felicite Moorman was awarded the 2019 Technologist of the Year Award at the 5th Annual Rad Awards, presented by Rad Girls.
Rad Girls celebrates spirited women who achieve, innovate, and inspire. This community includes women across the gender spectrum, age, sexual identity, race, and ethnicity. The Rad Awards highlight inspirational women leaders in technology, media, culture, science, and business.
Technologist of the Year was presented by Danielle Cohn, Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Engagement and Head of LIFT Labs, Comcast NBCUniversal, a Change Agent who curates Comcast NBCUniversal's programs to support entrepreneurs, inspire talent, and uncover startup stories and new product innovations.
It was a full circle moment for Moorman, as Cohn has been a staunch supporter for Moorman’s fast forward action in the Philadelphia technology community. They met just three short years prior at Philly Tech Week 2016, where Moorman first pitched multimedia behemoth Comcast NBCUniversal on STRATIS for MultiFamily IoT.
Moorman said, “This City and her female founders and supporters perpetually inspire me -and now they surprise me! This is such an incredible honor. An entrepreneur’s journey is never easy, but we buoy one another in Philadelphia, cheer for one another, hold each other up. I will never be able to repay the gifts and grace I receive from her, but I will always try.”
In the three years since that introduction, Moorman and Team have led STRATIS to three consecutive years on Entrepreneur Magazine’s 360 List of “Best Companies in America” and most recently a Top 100 Placement, a debut in the Top 20% of Inc. 5000s “Fastest Growing Companies,” the MultiFamily industry’s top award for startups, NMHC’s LaunchPad Award, as well as pioneering partnerships with the world’s largest service providers. STRATIS is installed in 300,000 apartments across the United States and more recently, Japan.
STRATIS partners with the world’s most innovative hardware providers, most notably Allegion and Schlage for electronic access and Bluetooth Low Energy door locks, Resideo and Honeywell Home for smart thermostats and leak sensors, and Leviton for smart lighting and groundbreaking connected load center solutions.
When accepting the award alongside her youngest daughter, Moorman spoke about gender pay equity.
“I recently did some research and found that, at the rate we are currently moving women forward in leadership, it will be 202 years before we reach parity,” Moorman said. “That’s about 200 years too many. So if you’re here tonight and you’re thinking of what you can do to change the world, I’m going to ask you to do one thing. Just one thing. Talk about pay equity.”
